Built on Real Experience, Not Just Theory
We started xaliverontia in 2019 because we saw too many businesses drowning in generic financial advice that didn't account for their actual circumstances.
After years of working inside organisations that treated financial planning like a checkbox exercise, we knew there had to be a better way. So we built one. Our approach focuses on understanding what you're actually trying to achieve, then creating frameworks that support those specific goals.
The Story Behind xaliverontia
Back in 2018, our founder Lachlan Bannister was working with a mid-sized manufacturing company that had just received conflicting advice from three different consultants. Each one promised breakthrough results, but none had bothered to understand the company's actual constraints or long-term vision.
That experience crystallised something we'd all been feeling. The financial services industry had become more focused on selling standardised solutions than solving real problems. Companies needed partners who would take time to understand their business, not just pitch them products.
We spent most of 2019 testing our methodology with five founding clients. The results were encouraging, but more importantly, the relationships felt different. We were having actual conversations about business strategy, not just presenting polished decks.
One of those early clients told us: "You're the first consultants who asked what keeps me awake at night before telling me what I need." That became our benchmark.
How We Work With Clients
Discovery Phase
We spend 4-6 weeks getting to know your business. And I mean actually getting to know it, not just reviewing your financials. We talk to department heads, understand your operational challenges, review past initiatives that worked and ones that didn't. This isn't billable consulting theatre, it's necessary groundwork.
Framework Development
Based on what we've learned, we develop a strategic framework tailored to your goals. Not a template we've used elsewhere with your logo slapped on top. We map out realistic timelines, identify potential obstacles, and create measurement systems that track what actually matters to your business.
Implementation Support
Here's where most consultants disappear. We stick around. Our team works alongside yours during the implementation phase, adjusting the plan as real-world conditions change. We're not prescriptive about this because every rollout is different, but we're available when complications arise.
Ongoing Partnership
Most of our clients continue working with us in some capacity after the initial engagement. Sometimes that's quarterly strategy reviews, sometimes it's ad-hoc consulting when new challenges emerge. We don't push ongoing contracts, but we're here if you need us.
What Guides Our Work
Honesty Over Optimism
We're not here to tell you what you want to hear. If your timeline seems unrealistic or your budget won't support your goals, we'll say so upfront. It's uncomfortable sometimes, but it saves everyone time and frustration down the road.
Context Matters
What works for a tech startup won't work for a construction company. We don't believe in universal best practices because we've seen too many companies hurt themselves trying to implement strategies that didn't fit their reality.
Long-Term Thinking
We're not interested in quick wins that create problems later. Our frameworks are designed to build capability over time, not just solve immediate issues. That means sometimes recommending slower approaches that create more sustainable results.
Results You Can Measure
We establish clear metrics at the start of every engagement. Not vanity metrics that look good in presentations, but measures that actually indicate whether you're making progress toward your goals. And we track them consistently throughout our work together.
The Team Behind the Work
We're a group of financial strategists, former operators, and business analysts based in Darwin. Our backgrounds vary widely, from corporate finance to startup operations, but we all share a preference for practical solutions over theoretical frameworks.
